TRIBE Tooting adventures are playful, creative, and… outdoors! 
Each adventure is different but they all include…
…an overall adventure (from finding hidden treasure to putting on a party)
…games (anything from zombie games to hunting people down)
…deep learning (think building miniature villages, den building, mud model making, kite making and camouflage)
…mind blowing stuff about nature
…adventurer skills (mindful listening for animals, directional listening, silent walking etc)
Kids can come along to any number of the sessions. If it goes well I’d hope to set up a longer-running project along forest school principles.

Forest schools are running around the world. They support kids to explore and experience nature for themselves in a playful, creative, empowering way that helps them develop confidence, mindfulness, and joy. There’s more info here.

My name is Emily and I live in Tooting. A couple of years ago I did a little work on Project Wild Thing (a gorgeouswild thing film about how rarely kids get to be outdoors now). I also had the pleasure of working with some young

people at Global Generation and the school sessions at the Transition Town Tooting Community Garden. The experience of seeing how young people come alive when they’re starempowered to playfully discover their connection to nature reminded me of adventures when I was young and the things I learnt. I used to work as a teaching assistant and more recently when I’m not freelancing as a project manager, I voluntarily manage FoodCycle Wandsworth in Tooting, and have fun with creative projects with my site welovetooting.com.

Ensuring kids are safe is, of course, essential. 
As well as an outdoor first aid course, I’ve done dreamsthe level 3 forest school leader training (these sessions will help me do my assessment). I also have an enhanced DBS (previously enhanced CRB check). Risk assessments are completed on all work and the project is fully insured.

    My twin boys are 9 and I know they would love this.
    We live opposite Mitcham common so im lucky enough to take them for adventures most weekends.

  3. I live near Tooting Bec tube and we are often exploring/climbing trees on tooting common. We are very much the outdoor types. However, my son is only 6 and just outwith your age catchment. Great idea though. Well done. Will definitely keep in mind.
